How to use H-Sphere Backups

As with all of our products, we've tried to make H-Sphere Backups as simple and easy to use as possible. To get started simply click on Account Backup under the Main section of your CP (control panel).

You are now at the Backups page. This page contains all of the settings you will use to create/restore your backups with.

The first section of the backups page is the Backup/Restore Queue. If there are any pending backups and/or restores, they will be shown here.

The second section is where a backup can be schedule for domain data. There are three different ways to deliver the backup. You can choose Web Browser which will make the file available for download (in the queue menu) once the backup has completed. If FTP is selected, the backup will be placed in the user's home directory on their web box. If Remote FTP is selected a user can specify an FTP server to deliver the backup to.

Web Browser

Select Web Browser as the delivery method. Click Fetch Backup. Once the backup is complete a download link will be available for the backup in the Backup/Restore Queue.

FTP

Select FTP as the delivery method. Click Fetch Backup. Once the backup is complete a compressed backup file will be placed in the user's home directory on their web box.

Remote FTP

If Remote FTP is selected, the user will be required to enter in all of the information for the FTP server. This includes the hostname, username and password for the account, the FTP path and whether or not to use PASV mode.

Once the information has been entered click Fetch Backup to start the backup process. Once the backup is completed the compressed backup file will be available at the Remote FTP location.

Restore via Web Browser

Select Web Browser as the delivery method. Click the "Click here to upload a file" link. Browse you computer and find the backup made previously. Click Ok. Click Restore Backup. Once the restore is complete you will see a success message.

FTP

Select FTP as the delivery method. Type in the filename (file must exist in users's home directory on web box). Once the restore is complete a success message will be displayed.

Remote FTP

Select Remote FTP as the delivery method. Enter the required information. Click restore backup. When the restore is complete a success message will be displayed.

Backing up a MySQL database

To backup a MySQL database, the first thing to do is to select the delivery method. These methods work exactly like they do when backing up a domain. Next you need to select the database to be backed up. Once the database has been selected click fetch backup to start the backup.

Restore MySQL backup

To restore a MySQL backup a delivery method needs to be selected first. The delivery methods function just like they do during a domain restore. Once the delivery method has been selected and all information pertaining to that delivery method has been entered, click Restore Database. Once the restore is complete a success message will be displayed.
